FOCUS

On producing sounds vocally that are usually given by recordings.

Description

After agreeing on the Who, What, Where, one or more players, hidden from the audience’s view make the noises to create the effects to enhance the onstage action and help establish the where and heighten the activity. 

The sounds should all be made vocally. Using a separate microphone enhances the effectiveness of this exercsize. 

 

SIDE COACHING:
Follow the follower! Sounds only. No dialogue! (for the SFX players)

 

EVALUATION

Were the vocal sound effects as effective as recorded sounds?

POINT OF OBSERVATION

1. Players should work with sounds as they would fellow player.
2. Almost invariably one or more students delight in making sounds and develop this skill to use in other exercises. It is very effective for the onstage playing.
