Blind Games

Materials Needed: Blindfolds, an abundance of real props and set pieces plus a stationary telephone (not cell phone). This may seem dated but it allows players to hunt for where the phone is. Once you get a Who, What and Where (one with the opportunity to handle many real props), the players are blindfolded and must play the scene “as if they could see”. This requires integrating the groping and simple handling of handshakes, props, etc. This will produce great fun for the audiene.

Notes on working without all your senses.

In some cases this can produce anxiety in some players. Assure them they are safe. Have spotters if you are on a stage or multi-level area to avoid tripping or falling. If a player gravitates to a seat or is otherwise unwilling to move, ring the phone or knock on the door. Once the fun takes over, these games are very freeing.
