Showing and Telling
Story Telling and Story Theater
This is a variation of Story Telling and Once Upon a Time, found in Improvisation for the Theater 3rd Edition (Pg. 283 & Pg. 290). It is also the roots of a unique theater style created by Paul Sills called Story Theater which used this idea and refined it in scripts as a way of presenting a theatrical telling of stories.
The players are given a well-known story or fairy tale and act it out as both narrator and actor, using space and space objects and sometimes costumes to create a staged presentation. The players in this example are Randy Brenner, Pat Herd, and Gary Schwartz. Excerpted from the Video Viola Spolin Conducts Theater Games, available in full as a video download.
Long time supporter, and thought I’d drop a comment.
Your organization’s wordpress site is very sleek –
hope you don’t mind me asking what theme you’re using? (and don’t mind
if I steal it? :P)
I just launched my small businesses site –also built in wordpress like yours– but the theme slows (!)
the site down quite a bit.
In case you have a minute, you can find it by searching for “royal cbd”
on Google (would appreciate any feedback) – it’s still in the works.
Keep up the good work– and hope you all take care of yourself during the
coronavirus scare!
