Name 6 is a great warm-up game to encourage ‘fun under pressure‘. Everyone stands in a circle and one person has a bean-bag or other object to be used as a ‘hot potato‘. The person designated as IT turns their back so they cannot see where the ball is while it is being passed, from one to the other in the circle as fast as possible. A loud clap stops the passing. All try to avoid holding the ball but the one who is caught with it at the clap is selected. The clapper turns back and asks the player to name six objects that all begin with the same letter of the alphabet. Once assigned the ball is passed around and the player must name 6 objects with that letter before the ball is returned to him or her. If successful, the clapper turns to catch a new player. If unsuccessful, the player must turn and be the next ‘catcher’.
It’s great fun and generates a lot of wonderful energy.
